Track 1: Written By: (Lashua, Belanger, Montesanto)
We wrote this song around the time that Tipper Gore and the whole P.M.R.C. thing was going on in the news, and that's what the song's about. This is one of many songs lyrically written by myself and Daniel. I would usually come up with the first verse and chorus, and then get stuck. Dan would then bail me out by coming up with the second verse. Whenever you see our two names as authors of a Fashion Police song, you can bet that this is how the song was written.
Track 2: Written By: (Lashua, Montesanto)
This song is about sex, plain and simple. "Crazy Stuff" is the name Dan's on-again/off-again girlfriend, Lori, called the "by-product" of sex. I always hated this song. It was always too funky for me. In the studio, I could feel Derek staring over my shoulder I as attempted the bass line. I wasn't about to sit there while he looked over me in judgment, so I handed him the bass, told him to do it, and went home. The next day, he told me he had a hard time doing it too, and that he should have just let me do it. I still can't believe I let Dan and Derek talk me into putting this song second on the tape.
Track 3: Written By: (Lashua, Montesanto)
This is the first song ever written by the Fashion Police at that historical first audition/practice. I'm pretty sure the lyrics are about Dan's on-again/off-again girlfriend, Lori.
Track 4: Written By: (Lashua, Belanger, Montesanto)
Track 5: Written By: (Belanger, Ogorek)
"Sunset Blvd." was the first song written for my old band PRETTY VACANT, by myself and original PV guitarist Greg Ogorek. When Fashion Police decided to use the song, Dan had the idea of the "Destination:" prefix as to distinguish it from the old version. I wrote the lyrics to this song in 1987, long before I ever even left for Hollywood. I'm very happy that actually did what I set out to do in the song lyrics, even though I never really "made it in that town."
Track 6: Written By: (Belanger, Montesanto)
As told in the History of the Fashion Police, after I left Pretty Vacant, they re-grouped and went back to Hollywood. When I heard that they were still using the name "Pretty Vacant," a name that I had established, was a little pissed off. I wasn't really that pissed off, because I didn't really care for the name, and I felt that Pretty Vacant had run its course. Anyway, I wrote this song about the remaining members of Pretty Vacant. "Vanity without reason" is one of the best lines that Daniel Montesanto ever came up with. I still quote it all the time. This song, and "Wind Outta Sails" from PLUG IT IN, are two of the best songs I wrote for Fashion Police. What's with the nautical theme? I may live near Lake Erie, but don't even own a boat!
Track 7: Written By: (Lashua, Montesanto)
Track 8: Written By: (Belanger)
Track 9: (Bonus Track) Written By: (Montesanto)
Before Dan joined Fashion Police, he had a side project called the BASTARD SQUAD. The Bastard Squad played hardcore music with novelty lyrics. "Smoke Pot'" was originally a Bastard Squad song, and Fashion Police would use it to close our show every night. Smoke Pot was written about the attitude of one of Dan's friends. We were afraid to put SMOKE POT on the outside of our cassette, thinking it would turn some people off, So we put BONUS TRACK on the outside track listing. You didn't see the actual song title until you tore off the shrink-wrap and opened the cassette.
Track 10: (Extra Bonus Track)
Track 11: (Extra Bonus Track)
Track 12: (Bonus MPEG Video)
Excerpts from the 1992 Fashion Police home video. Everything live was filmed at the Akron Agora except for "Smoke pot," which was filmed at both the Sahara Club and the Akron Agora.
