"While label-mates Weatherbee in '73...often cross the line of what is tasteful..." -Delusions of Adequacy Zine, 2001. The year was 1979, and after a few years of slumming it out in West Germany, rubbing elbows with the likes of Klaus Scheiße and Edgar Fotze, the band Weatherbee in ’73 was at a loss as to where to take their art. Sure, they had invented noisecore and harsh noise wall music the year before with the legendary “We Are Weatherbee in ’73 and We Just Created Noisecore and HNW Music” but where do you go from there? The answer came to them in the form of a dream of a dachshund with worms whispering in French Canadian. Weatherbee in ’73 was not only told to create a new form of music called Kosmische Musik that had not previously existed before, but, more specifically, a form of ambient (also new) from the Berlin School (named after the band’s beloved Amish community in Berlin, Ohio). What you have playing in your ears right now was a revolutionary moment in music that influenced everyone from Brian Eno and Tangerine Dream to the German Kompakt label to American actor Sherman Hemsley. While many would explore these new sounds in the decades later, nobody posted their albums to Bandcamp and YouTube with the hope of getting over 100 listens.
