This Time We Are Taking It Very Seriously

Started in 1989 while the members were still in Elementary School Weatherbee in ‘73 was a noisecore band designed to bring extreme music to babies like those little Einstein Records, taking inspiration from the likes of 7MON, Crawl Noise, Final Exit, Aunt Mary, and Sockeye.

 The band took their name from an AARP pamphlet about the importance of regular prostate checks over the age of 55. The pamphlet suggested to make sure you get at least one finger in there, swab it around, and then rub the finger on specialty acetone test strips named Weatherbee N-73 from Mallincockrot, Inc. We doubt founders Gustav, Otto, and Edward Jr. would have been jamming to the band, but they might respect their appreciation for preventative medicine. The band managed to release a handful of songs through yelling on buses, at shopping malls, and at their parents. Usually, though, they found themselves being kicked out due to the extremity of the music and subject matter.

This led the band to use the alias “The Thoroughfare Sandbaggers” to try and sneak their music back into public settings. Additionally, they slowed down their songs to make S.L.A.B.ed out versions to dodge the censors, which only ended up adding to the H-Town pride of the entire endeavor (and still getting kicked out). Eventually, by the early 1990s, the band called it quits and focused on other projects. That is, until now… Almost 32 years after deciding to tune their instruments, Weatherbee in ‘73 has returned and they are bringing their brand of nonsense noisecore back to the people with their second full length release.
