The Melody Lingers On-The Roy Cordell Archive Project

3 Disc Box Set created for Roy's estate that compiles much of what Roy sang on, both commercially released and many unreleased performances, most taken from Roy's own acetates. Came with two four page booklets with discography information, pictures, notes and essays. This was another archival project from Alternative Records and was not commercially released nor licensed for resale or radio play. I think five were produced total for family. Cd Two Notes-2-20 & 2-21 are from a 78RPM on Hadley, not in the database at this writing. 2-23 & 2-24 are on a label called Natural & Honeymoon, not in database nor anywhere I can find in the internet. The George Metcalf Orchestra is not the same George Metcalf in the database. The Ray Herbeck NBC broadcasts date from 1945. CD Three Notes: 3-2, 3-3 on a Melodic acetate 78rpm; 3-4 through 3-6 are obscure poems set to music and Roy's vocals and spoken word on a Garrison branded acetate and it seems there was no commercial intent; 3-7,3,8; 3-9, 3-10 on a WRS Labs acetate. The Packard Tests are on a KFI acetate and are rehearsals; there is no indication Roy and Barbara were on the show itself. The radio station acetates are long after his singing career was over as he moved into the start of a long radio career. Moved to last are the Herbeck "glass masters" from 1945 and previously undocumented. 3 out of the 4 acetates had a break and were a significant challenge to save. The final are home recorded acetates that don't feature Roy but have his notes and were kept as part of the archive, save the very last one, which was recorded on a very noisy Capitol plastic on cardboard acetate and has a rehearsal of My Heart on it. It's barely listenable, but part of the history, so it was kept.
