Tectonic

Record an album in just one week was the challenge I set myself that resulted in Tectonic. Starting with just a few loops and hooks, the album quickly took shape. Relying on some of the techniques developed for my previous album, I soon had a consistent sound that bridged the atmosphere and emotion of “Veneer” but with a fresh, edgy feel. One week in, Tectonic was close to completion but not quite; the challenge proved to be slightly too tough! The second week enabled me to add some much needed polish and dynamics to what was now developing into a far more complex project than I had thought possible. The final track “Cinumburrocyst (Part 1)” was created from scratch in just one day to round off two of the most enjoyable weeks of my music career so far. Bispatial, my Luna Keep label mate suggested the album title and the track titles were inspired by a particular synth I used that plays a big part in the Blume sound. The final sheen was provided once again by artist Fluidizzed, who created the stunning artwork for Tectonic following on from her amazing work on my first album. In total the album took just over two weeks to complete. The Blume sound evolved into something that I feel is quite special. Tectonic is truly an epic work and forms the second part of my “Masquerade” trilogy of albums. Blume September 2016
