From the Walt Disney feature film, "SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS" with dialogue and sound effects.
The Snow White soundtrack first released in the US by RCA/Victor Records [r=10759089] in January 19, 1938, this commercially-released movie soundtrack was the first of its kind. Originally sold as a set of three shellac 78 RPM 10" records, it contained eight of the eleven songs heard in the picture, as "Bluddle-Uddle-Um-Dum", "Some Day My Prince Will Come (Reprise)" and "One Song (Reprise)" were not included. These recordings were taken directly from the film's track and thus include bits of dialogue and sound effects. The album was an immediate hit. The same American recordings were also issued in Great Britain [r=2412780] and all Europe, but under the RCA Victor's British affiliate label of His Master's Voice (HMV), manufactured by the Gramophone Co, Ltd., Hayes, Middlesex, England. The Australian release was also issued under the RCA Victor's British affiliate label of His Master's Voice (HMV), but manufactured for the Gramophone Co, Ltd., Sydney, NSW.
This is a reissue of the 1938 Australian release "Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". Label with a gap where "Allan's" patent logo used to be. The artwork on the front is breathtaking, there is none on the back. Gustaf Tenngren was the artist responsible for the stunning cover image which is printed on glossy stock and adhered to the cardboard folder, a costly process that shows they treated the release with great attention to detail. By contrast, the British release of the album in 1938 featured Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in a variation of the Gustaf Tenggren's poster art, though the dwarfs, in particular, have been switched around and altered to appear more as they do in the film. Also the Wicked Queen, the Witch with poison apple, the Prince and the Castle were all omitted from the background. However this Australian reissue kept true to Tenngren’s vision and is an exact replica of the movie poster. The catalog number "A.4" is printed at the bottom of the front panel, designated as Allan's Album Series. The important thing to note here is that songs C, D1 and D2 are in reverse order in this edition just the same as the UK version, compared to the American version, which in turn reverses the Matrix / Runout Vocal Labels of Side C and Side D from ascending to descending; this is not the case with the other two records.
None of the vocal performers are credited by their real or stage names, instead they are credited by the character they voiced in the film.
Side A, C, D1, F: As Originally Sung by Snow White
Side B, E: As Originally Sung by the Seven Dwarfs
Side D2: As Originally Sung by the Prince
Neither it is mentioned anywhere that this recording is Mono, that's because all the recordings before 1957 were in Mono. By the end of 1957, RCA Victor announced the demise of the 78 RPM format.
