Kyrie: Chant for Quiet Meditation

Although the booklet notes state that “the recording contains all nine ‘Proper’ Kyries from the Sarum Rite” the track listing doesn’t specify which tracks these are. For the record, the Sarum ‘Proper’ Kyries are performed purely by the choir and make up tracks: 3, 5, 10, 14, 17, 21, 25, 27, & 31. The fifteen Kyrie ‘Squares’ are sung by the soloist; ten of these being preceded by a short instrumental improvisation (tracks: 4, 7, 9, 13, 16, 19, 20, 24, 28, & 32) the remaining five (6, 12, 18, 23, & 30) being purely vocal. The remaining tracks are settings of ‘Kyries’ from other English and Continental sources. Six of these are instrumental (1, 8, 11, 15, 26, & 33) whilst three of them are for instruments and solo voice (2, 22, & 29).
