Vertical Form is pleased to announce a limited vinyl issue of reowned Scandinavian artist Kim Hiorthøy's debut album 'Hei'. Previously only available in limited quantities and on CD only via Hiorthøy's spiritual home; the Oslo based Smalltown Supersound label, this vinyl issue is an extremely welcome addition to the Vertical Form catalogue. Hiorthøy, already a massive fan of the likes of John Peel and Coldcut, has been a burgeoning character on the Scandinavian music and art scene for many years now begin widely reowned for his work as a filmmaker, photographer, fine artist, graphic designer and of course msician. As a graphic designer and artist his work has graced the cover of Creative Review and amongst others he also takes care of art direction and design work for infamous Scandinavian labels SmalltownSupersound, Rune Grammofon and Motorpsycho. He has also recently published his own design book to massive critical acclaim entitled 'Tree Weekend' via Die Gestalten Verlag in Germany. 'Hei', in many circles has been championed as Hiorthøy's most accomplished work to date and upon listening to this collection of 14 intimate tracks it is clear to see and hear why. Experimental in many contexts, but never extreme, his sound is a combination of lo-fi electronics, field recordings, samples, glitch loops, violin and piano amongst a whole host of other inturments and production techniques. Filled with charm and a delicate, fraglie, childlike approach 'Hei' is one soundtarck of many, to Hiorthøy's wonderfully charismtic world.
