• Kenneth Kirschner: "March 24, 2014" was originally conceived as an indeterminate piano composition for a sound installation project. Consisting of 54 short fragments that can be played in any order, the piece was designed to be played either by itself or in conjunction with Barbara Held's sound installation "Observatory". "March 24, 2014" and "Observatory" premiered together in May of 2014 at Eyebeam in New York City in a show presented by Contour Editions. This release presents two different versions of "March 24, 2014": an indeterminate version that includes all 54 individual fragments, which the listener can add to a playlist and play back on shuffle mode, and a "linear" version that consists of a single sound file of all 54 fragments arranged in the order in which they were composed.
