L'Oeuvre Pour Piano

Arnold Schoenberg, composer of the celebrated monodrama Pierrot lunaire, wrote five sets of piano pieces that roughly correspond to various phases of his stylistic development. Despite moving from a tonal idiom to atonality and then to twelve-note writing, these works retain a remarkable stylistic unity. In performances of great finesse, pianist Florent Boffard showcases these fascinating pieces, written by a master composer whose works and theories exerted a profound influence on most of the 20th century. Also included with the recording is a bonus DVD with a film about Schoenberg featuring Boffard.
