Voiced and mixed at King Tubby's studio 18 Dromilly Avenue, Kingston 11, Jamaica 1975-1978. Digital restoration at Room 63, Abbey Road Studios, London. Edited and mastered at the Town House, London. Made in England. Track 1: taken from the [url=http://www.discogs.com/U-Brown-Satta-Dread/release/2243629]Satta Dread[/url] album, this is a version of Owen Gray's "Bongo Natty" (1974 version of Alton Ellis' "Girl I've got a date"). Track 2: taken from a Jackpot 45. Cornell Campbell's version of Ernest Wilson's "Undying Love" is the backing here. Track 3: has "I Hold The Candle" by Johnnie Clarke as the rhythm track (recut of a rhythm originally done by the Heptones at Studio One). Track 4: is a version of Johnnie Clarke on a recut of the Uniques' "Give Me A Love". Track 5: "Watch That Sound", Cornell's take on the Buffalo Springfield, again first covered in reggae by the Uniques. Track 6: called "Strictly Rockers" on the the [url=http://www.discogs.com/release/2243629]Satta Dread[/url] album, this is version of "No Tribal War" by Johnnie Clarke. Track 7: is a Bunny Lee version of the rhythm best known as "King Tubby Meets The Rockers Uptown". Track 8: is a version of "Mr Smart". A dub version appears on [url=http://www.discogs.com/release/442587]Dub Gone Crazy - The Evolution Of Dub At King Tubby's 1975-1979[/url] (BAFCD 002). Track 9: is a version of "Do Good" by Johnnie Clarke. Track 10: called "Satta Dread" on the [url=http://www.discogs.com/release/2243629]Satta Dread[/url] album, this is a version of "Beware Of A Smiling Face" by Horace Andy. Track 11: is a version of "Give Me Strength Oh Jah" by Cornell Campbell. Track 12: taken from a Socialist Roots 12". The rhythm is a version of "Death In The Arena", based on the Studio One adaptation of Bernard Purdie's "Funky Monkey" of 1968. Track 13: is an extended cut of the Hit Sound 45, use the rhythm "Real Rock" that was also used by Linval Thompson for "Can't Stop Natty Dread". Track 14: is a version of "Blood Dunza" by Johnnie Clarke. Track 15: has "Age Is Growing" by Johnnie Clarke as rhythm track. Tracks 14 & 15 are CD bonus tracks.
