Children Of Light

“Children of Light” began their ministry with alto Cathie Freeburg and soprano Pam Porter, practicing gospel music at Boardman High School in November of 1973. Their prayers for a pianist were answered when they found out the chorale accompanist, Rick Blackson, was also a Christian. In September of 1975 the Lord led tenor Todd Harmon, another chorale member, to this ministry. “Children of Light” has been singing at various churches, concerts, meetings, and TV programs since their beginning. They are a Holy Spirit–led group singing harmony-laden music ranging from sacred to folk and modern gospel. Pam is a voice major at Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music and sings solo apart from the group. She is a member of the Mennonite Church. Cathie is majoring in Elementary Education at YSU, where she also studies guitar and voice. She is a member of the Evangelical Friends Church. Rick studies liberal arts and voice at YSU. He belongs to the Church of God (Anderson, Ind.). Todd studies voice and plans on attending college. He is a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
