"Live"

Earlier this year, Holiday captured something both fleeting and rare alongside his friend and fellow musician Austin Traver: two improvised live sets, recorded months apart (one in August, the other in October) and preserved the sounds exactly as they happened. These sets form a 34-minute listening experience that feels less like a traditional release and more like a time capsule of two precise moments in time. The project thrives on trust, curiosity, and mutual experimentation. The music is not only live but entirely improvised, built from DIY gear, live loops, and an intuitive back-and-forth that recalls two curious souls tinkering with a chemistry set. Nothing is overworked. Nothing is polished away. The tracks themselves even remain untitled, inviting listeners to focus not on labels, but on presence. These six ambient and abstract pieces embody the live experience in full. Soothing loops give way to droning textures, experimental bass, noise, and vocal samples, all awash in sound. Field recordings and haunted tones drift in and out, blurring the line between environment and instrument. At times it’s meditative and grounding, while at others, it erupts into brilliant chaos. Moments of bliss collide with moments of uncertainty, reinforcing the sense that when anything is possible, anything can happen. There’s an overwhelming lushness to this music. Consider it an invitation to slow down, to embrace the moment, and to sit with sound for sound's own sake. Even hints of lofi folk and hip-hop textures surface unexpectedly, adding both warmth and surprise to the equation. It’s difficult to explain these two recorded sets without pressing play. “You had to be there” might apply here, but thanks to these recordings, anyone can now listen, near or far, and step into these moments exactly as they were, exactly as they are.
