"A few months ago, my friend, SJAIFUL NAWAS, stopped by and gave me a reel of dusty, moldy tape. It was a memorable live recording from the 1980s, recorded in a backyard in Bandung. The recording, lost for decades, had finally been rediscovered.
I immediately shared this good news with my friends from a group that had previously recorded this live performance, now known as TEENAGE DEATH STAR. I also immediately gave the tape to my friend, David Tarigan, to be cleaned, preserved, and given a few additions.
This recording existed long before TEENAGE DEATH STAR was founded, but it could be considered the precursor to this Bandung-based group. Many musicians played on it, but I can't remember who they were. Teenage mischief and musical creativity have become a powerful combination in this recording, and it will undoubtedly live on forever.
Besides presenting fresh popular music, our goal is to inspire young people to develop their own talents. The theme of the music and songs was still youthful in harmony with the popular interests of the people at that time."
