"classics vol 1"

For the label’s 2nd vinyl release (81st release overall (that’s not a typo)) Trackland returns with a (mostly) retrospective and humorously-but-appropriately(?) titled EP. Three of the four “classics” presented here came out digitally in 2020. They were chosen for this release because 1) they’re great, 2) certain friends formed special relationships with them, and 3) they work together nicely with the fourth track (the previously-unreleased “Life in Twilight”) to cover a lot of ground within “house”, creating a useful record “for all occasions”. The artwork takes lessons from last year’s infinite chime, leaning heavily on the joy of freehand spraypainting to interact with texture and space. The jackets were painted outside, a process subject to wind, temperature, and the physics of nozzles that can clog or behave in unexpected ways. The Trackland approach to making music is built on iteration, improvisation, and welcoming natural occurrences rather than reactively judging them as errors; it feels right to work from those principles for the visual side too. These tracks were re-engineered at Trackland to the extent that this was possible, then sent to Pheek at audioservices.studio for mastering. The records were pressed at Mobineko in Taiwan.
