The Way of the Dog is a nod to the iconic kung fu films of the last century, so it’s impossible not to notice the Hong Kong influence in the album's soundscapes. The track sequence follows a typical warrior story arc: once upon a time, there was a Dog from Shaolin, from his first meeting with the teacher (The Way of the Dog) to the battle with his arch-nemesis (Tiger Style), from the hero's despair to his eventual confidence that everything will be okay, and a time will come for a smile. The Dog's journey in Anderdog's style is a constant contrast of strength and flexibility, the relentless jungle beats with the clear skies of the finales. The artist stays true to his credo: still rejecting symmetry, which makes each of his tracks unpredictable, blending broken beats with tender instrumental monologues, and skillfully wrapping sharp IDM sounds in a lyrical package. Why not? As the great master Lee once said: "Softness cannot be broken."
