First edition 3,000" Within Living Memory includes a recording made in the intensive care unit of a London teaching hospital, at a Russian Orthodox funeral in Paris and at a firework display on Primrose Hill, London, mixed with a 4-track phased tapeloop sent by the German group Hydrobeast. Margaret Sambell's "Metal Hamonics" was composed at Birmingham University's electronic studio in April 1983 and featured at the EMAS concert held during the 1984 Almeida Festival, London. Gilbert and George were recorded in their home in Spitalfields, London, in March 1985 - the text is taken from the film "The World Of Gilbert and George", as are other brief excerpts on this tape, produced by The Arts Council Of Great Britian, 1981. Feverhouse is a film released by Ikon FCL of Manchester, directed by Howard Walmsley, with a screenplay by Ken Hollings and soundtrack by Biting Tongues, available on Factory Records. Einstürzende Neubauten were recorded live in London on March 1st, 1985. "Closing Prices Paper Late" was recorded in Baker St. Underground station, by chance the day new broke of the JAL jumbo disaster. "…Pure Venom" was recorded in 1928 at the birthplace of The Church Of Immaculate And Bloody Deception, Little Rock Baptist Alabama Surrey, and is dedicated to Rev. Ian Paisley, doyen of mail-order clerics. Fast Forward was recorded live in April 1984 at New Langton Arts, San Francisco. David Cunningham's "Two Different Places" was originally recorded for Geoff Dunlop's film "Just What Is It?" (1984) to accompany the section on Edward Allington's sculptures, and re-recorded in Brixton in 1985. "North Star" is made up of three simultaneous transmissions recorded the same evening, just after midnight, from radio and TV. "Theme For An American TV Show" was intially recorded for that purpose, but rejected by the TV producer The Residents sent it to, (though only just). "Shadowed Valley" is a reading from the book sculpture "Dark Shadow", published by Gilbert and George in 1974. "Diffusion" was produced at Western Works, published by Island Music Ltd. Gregorio Spini was recorded live whilst visiting London in February 1985. The buddhists are at breakfast in a monastery in Northern Japan. "Too Much Is Not Enough" was written and produced in March 1985. "I Touched The Memory" was recorded in October 1982 at The Suitcase Studio. "Cançion De Madera Y Agua", featured at the 1984 Almeida Festival, was recorded in 1982 at The Institute For Psycho-Acoustics And Electronic Music, Ghent, Belgium. "Urban Psychology" includes a recording made in The Anthony D'Offay Gallery during the installation of Joseph Beuys' "Plight", and the sound of Japanese recruits counting off in Manchuria in 1942. "Who Is The Author?" was recorded in London early in 1985. Sadhu Ritual Chant, an extract from a forthcoming work "Silent Tongues", was recorded in Hampi, Karnataka, India.
