Todos los temas (P) RCA Victor Mexicana, S.A. de C.V. Lucha Reyes was born María de la Luz Flores Aceves on May 28, 1906 in Guadalajara , Mexico. Lucha Reyes was placed center stage and with a bottle of tequila in her hand; she sang spectacularly. At one point during her performances, she would lift the bottle and give it a long drink that served to get her voice out of her when she felt a lump in her throat. In the last years of her life, she began to seek out alcohol as an essential beverage. Sometimes her drunkenness was so pronounced that she was prevented from going on stage. She died from a combination of alcohol (her beloved tequila) and barbiturates on June 25, 1944 (age 38) in Mexico City, Mexico. Her death was ruled a suicide (overdose).
