Live at the Athenaeum is the fourth live album by Australian musician Renée Geyer, who is considered Australia’s finest white soul singer. The album was recorded at the Melbourne Athenaeum on 1 November 2003, during her Tenderland tour. The album was released in April 2004 Renée Rebecca Geyer (born 11 September 1953, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) is an Australian singer of Jewish descent, who has long been regarded as one of the finest exponents of jazz, soul and R&B idioms. In addition to her stellar solo work, Renée has been a important contributing member of both Sun (1970s) in Australia, as well as Easy Pieces (1980s) in the United States. Geyer has also been an internationally respected and sought-after backing vocalist, whose session credits include work with Sting, Chaka Khan, Toni Childs and Joe Cocker, among others.
