Many years ago, in a small Hungarian Village, a little boy of ten tried to make his own musical instruments from odds and ends which he found around his Father's farm. The work, in the vineyards of the farm, was backbreaking and there was hardly any time or money left over for study,but still the boy dreamed of a musical career, and on rare, but wonderful occasions managed to borrow his friend's violin on which to practice. Finally, at the age of 17, Ivan Dezso, the little boy grown in to a fine young man, by good fortune came to the United States, and with a tremendous amount of work and determination, plus of course his passionate love for the violin and the songs of his people, he became the beloved fiddler-singer of all Hungarian-Americans. For the past several decades, Ivan Dezso, the Hungarian Gypsy Troubadour has been playing and singing the haunting songs and wild Csardas which have made him famous, and delight all who are fortunate enough to hear. Although it is scarcely one hundred and fifty years since the world first became aware of Hungarian music, these beautiful and haunting melodies quickly became firmly entrenched as favorites all over the world. In Hungary, music is a part of life and whatever moves the soul is poured forth in song songs of wine and harvest time, songs of love and the stars, songs of sorrow and happiness. The fiery, exciting tempo of the Csardas is an expression of the vivacity and joy of the Hungarian people; music and dance, laughter and tears, all come through the sob of the gypsy violin, so colorfully presented on this recording by Ivan Dezso.
