Although current recording industry standards and practices seem to indicate no distinction between stereophonic and monophonic groove structure on records, we feel obliged to suggest that this stereophonic disc be played only with a stereo cartridge and needle. Whereas this disc will survive playing on a monophonic system, the disparity in size and condition of many monophonic needles may cause rapid wear and ultimate deterioration of sound on this Opus One record."
