Best Of.... Volume I

Mono. The recordings were made in early 1975. [r=8930058] was never formally released as part of the [r=1352072] boxed set that came out during the main historical period of TG activity (roughly 1977 through 1981). At some point in the 1980s, Industrial Records did re-issue the cassette in a sleeve similar to those used in the [r=1352072] boxed set. From that 1980s cassette, another re-issue was done by an unknown group calling themselves "V.A.T.". These re-issues are dubs from the Industrial Records cassettes and do not sound as good as the originals. They are probably unofficial and the country of origin is unknown. The V.A.T. re-issues came out in the spring of 1990 (possibly earlier) and started out as a series of cassettes that started with this one and then continued with duplicates of IRC1 ([r=10317404]) through IRC11 ([r=10315859]). Additional IRC cassettes were later re-issued by V.A.T. as well. V.A.T. re-issues can be identified by "this is a V.A.T. re-release" being printed in the lower right of the B side labels. Although exact numbers aren't known for the V.A.T. releases, there are probably far more of those than the original handmade versions. While the cassettes were later re-mastered and re-issued on CD, most notably as [r=347719], [r=234047], and [r=233665], the original Industrial versions of the cassettes are sometimes sought after because they include material that was cut from the re-mastered CDs, either due to length or copyright concerns. These can include conversations between Cosey Fanni Tutti and Monte Cazazza, TG remixing Bing Crosby singing White Christmas, or arguments between The Slits and TG after The Slits tried to sabotage one of their shows, and more. This is the V.A.T. re-issue version of "Best of....Volume I". While no track titles are formally listed, an approximate track resembles the following (timings may vary slightly): Side A: Untitled (1:11), Untitled (2:19), Untitled (0:54), Untitled (1:41), Untitled (14:59), Untitled (1:40), Untitled (1:09), Untitled (2:55), Untitled (1:09), Untitled (0:58), Untitled (8:30), Scars of E (6:14), Untitled (0:29). Side B: Untitled (0:40), Untitled (0:58), Untitled (10:02), Untitled (1:09), Very Friendly (Part One) (11:06), Very Friendly (Part Two) (9:27), We Hate You (Little Girls) (Version One) (2:36), We Hate You (Little Girls) (Version One) (2:39), American Magician Talking (0:58), Neil Young - New Mama / Look Out Joe (2:56). The last two tracks are not by Throbbing Gristle. The first is a recording of an American magician performing a trick with a small audience. The second is of Neil Young's "New Mama" ending, then the end plays again and "Look Out Joe" begins before ending abruptly.
