Hot Rocks 1964-1971

Unreleased version on Rolling Stones Records rather than ABKCO. Release was halted due to a lawsuit from ABKCO over who had the rights to the material. All copies of the 8 track tapes were sold at cost to ABKCO who then sold them to a repurposer. There they were bulk erased, had labels pasted over the original artwork, and were sold as blanks. As reported in the February 26, 1972 issue of Billboard: "ABKCO Records Inc. obtained a preliminary injunction restraining Atlantic Records and Ampex Corp. from producing, selling, offering for sale or distributing the tape version of the Rolling Stones' 'Hot Rocks' album pending an immediate trial. The decision was made in the New York State Supreme Court on Feb. 15."
