Box 5033 Herndon, VA 22070 Trash Can Liner Notes: If George Willard wants to be the alternative Jimmy Buffet, or whatever, someone's got to tell him (I guess that's me) that he's not even close. In the least he'd have to move to Florida and in the wake of Sal Amoniac's acrimonious departure from that state this may not be such a bad idea. Lyrically Willard isn't the typical ABAB or AABB, not ABBA, poetry school rhyme schemer that Buffet is. His lyrics are often more raggedly rhymed. Sometimes they don't rhyme at all. You have to listen for those kinds of things. Enough of this Buffet commentary, oh, and also Willard has never been able to grow a decent mustache, anyway. Other than the fascination with someone taking over where Buffet has left off I don't have much to say about this recording. You see I don't want to give it away. I want listeners to form their own conclusions, then again I am getting paid by the word so I'll say something else. A few highlights for no particular reason may be the power ballad "Strawberry Banana" or the philly soulish "Calvin Spratley" or even the wry country death musings of "Power Tool Fool". These songs, along with the others, prove that if George Willard could figure out how to end a song or take a singing lesson, he may be on his way. Where?
