Giant Steps

Justin Cole & Sean Smith radically transform John Coltrane's "Giant Steps" by taking the initial 27 second melody and stretching it out to 21 minutes in length. The saxophone, bass, and piano have been transformed into long form synthesizer sounds that enmesh the listener and deeply rethink one of the most potent and memorable melodies of post-bop jazz for the 21st century. As a result, the frenetic speed of modern life is slowed down to a glacial pace--a glacier that surrounds us with its viscous and spiritual sounds. Covers are hand stamped and individually produced by Justin Cole featuring either a silver gelatin print or type c-print.
