Dekadance

This is the unofficial CD release of ‘Dekadance’ - originally released in 1984 as a seven-track cassette, which included six extended and/or remixed versions of songs from the INXS album ‘The Swing’ Two of the extended mixes had not been released before: “Love Is (What I Say)” and “Melting In The Sun” The other four ‘Swing’ tracks were previously released on 12” with the exception of “Dancing On The Jetty” which was a 7” release only. At the time of the original release, ‘the Swing’ album had sold over a quarter of a million copies in Australia alone and in-keeping with the band’s method of vinyl releases (ie: never before released songs on the B-sides of every single since their first!) The ‘cassette only’ release featured not only the six ‘Swing’ songs but also the never before released cover of Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood’s “Jackson” performed by INXS with special guest vocalist Jenny Morris duetting with Michael Hutchence. Packaging for the cassette only release is this unique flip-top cassette case which has been printed in six different versions using a blow-up of the Michael Putland photo of INXS as seen on the front cover of ‘The Swing’. The price for the original cassette version of ‘Dekadance’ was set at $4.99 R.R.P making it the same price as a twelve inch single release! This undoubtedly made ‘Dekadance’ the most original and reasonable release to happen in Australia in 1984. Now, in 2019, INXS fans around the world can ENJOY ‘Dekadance’ once more!
