Limited Edition of 50 Recorded on November 24, 2018 From the BandCamp page: I am self-taught. There were a few lessons here and there, maybe a dozen, over the past quarter century. I learn on the gig, from friends, from books, from freely exploring, and from teaching. When I improvise in standard tuning, it is too difficult for me to not impose conceptual frameworks onto the instrument. Therefore, when I play free, I prefer to be in alternate tunings so that I am surprised by my "choices." Preparations make the adventures even more colorful: paperclips, Nerf darts, clothespins, bells, strips of plastic, etc. This recording is a journey from the somewhat known to the progressively more unknown. My first album focusing entirely on prepared guitar. From track one to six the guitar is gradually transformed from standard tuning with no preparations into a more and more altered, prepared, and strange instrument. All tracks were recorded in the first take, requiring an immediate acclimation, relearning, and acceptance of the new sonic and harmonic possibilities.
