Los Tropicales

Several years ago a group of students decided to experiment with the native music of their homelands and a small combo, Los Tropicales, was formed. As years went by, the individual members were substituted yet the flavor and style of the group changed only slightly. Our repertoire grew with the acceptance of a wider range of sources for songs. The "new sound" was truly International with an unmistakable Latin flavor. For many of our friends the choice of the numbers presented here will, by necessity, leave some favorites out. The selections were made only after having defined the purposes of this record. Our group reached in the last 1 1/2 years a high degree of musical understanding. The songs we chose are meant to represent this, along with the individual contribution of the members. We would also like to add that, throughout these years we have made a good number of friends, who showed an interest not only in our music, but in the other facets of our lives. This made the nightly performances enjoyable and artistic rather than a business-like routine. This is their record as much as ours. - Los Tropicales
