Music Of Madura

These recordings were made during two trips to Madura in 1977 and 1983. The second trip was facilitated by a research permit from the Indonesian Institute of Research (LIPI). Grateful acknowledgement is made to the many people who assisted in the arrangements of performances, particularly the cultural officers of the Department of Education and Culture (P&K) in Surabaya, Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasen and Sumenep and the many musicians who gave so generously of their artistry.
