The spoken tracks (6, 11, 17, 21, 29, 36, 47, 49, and portions of 27 and 32) were recorded between September 1998 and March 1999 at 2790 Broadway, New York, NY. Also, songs 2-5 were recorded there to 4-track. Track 39 was recorded live in July 1999 at the PNC Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ. The spoken portion of 47 was recorded at 52 Webster Avenue, New Rochelle, NY, around October 1999. It is a rare recorded vestige of Yanistin. Track 1 was recorded at Katie Dutton's apartment in Darien, CT, in January 2000. Then the author went home, and 7-10, 12-16, and 18-20 were recorded to 4-track in the attic of 81 Cleveland Lane, Princeton, NJ, February-March 2000, usually in a big purple sweater. Then the author got fed up with himself and went on a long road trip. Once he was back, 22-28, 31-35, 37-38, and 40-48 were also recorded at 81 Cleveland Lane, but in July-August. Because it was summer, and the attic became too hot, the 4-track was moved downstairs to a cooler room with big chintz drapes. The purple sweater was eschewed. Track 30 was recorded in an attic on Sherman Street in Hartford, CT, in August 2000. Chris Hosea sings and wrote the words to 12. Jake Flag, on the beach in St. Petersburg, FL, on a summer night in 1996, guests on track 15. That's Gibby on the answering machine on 21. Song titles on 4-5, 7, 18, 22, 24-46, 28, 35-36, 40-42, 44, 47, and 49 foolhardily solicited from Fully Clothed Ex-Girlfriend Nowhere Near the Bathtub. Everything here was originally hummed into the indestructible Panasonic RN-122 microcassette recorder, except for track 1, which was taped by a Sony that soon broke.
